were seen panhandling in front of the local Hooter's Restaurant in Lake Buena Vista (Orlando) Florida.

These are large birds and do not seem to be afraid of anything. They will stand in the middle of the road and YOU have to go around them. These were very vocal but I cannot describe to you the sound they make but it is loud. They came right up to the door of the Restaurant.

I only had a point and shoot with me so the quality isn't the greatest but I thought you would like to see these amazing birds.

Wow. They are obviously not afraid of humans. The only place I can find Sandhills is on a reserve about one hour from me.

I think they were there looking for "chicks":D . I saw two along the roadside the other day with a small chick. It scares me when they get so close to the road because of the way people drive around here.

I was so close to this one that I could have reached out and touched it.

Yep, those are the sandhills I know and love. They are all over the place down here. They have adapted to us better than we have adapted to them.

I've seen them hanging out by my bank's ATM and the drive through at McDonalds ( disappointing, I figured them for better taste). Its not unusual for the traffic to stop as they cross the road.

Good capture illustrating the sandhills caught up in Florida's never ending development.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
