Black and White Snapshots.
I've been working on my black and white conversion. Do these look ok? What would you do different? (And how!)
This is my ten month old daughter Rosie, by the way.
(This one looks a little flat to me, but I love her eyes, so I just left it alone. :dunno)
This is the mentally handicapped boy I homeschool--he LOVES having his picture taken, especially with my dogs. :wink
The sun was really bright, and he just asked me to snap his picture, so I didn't really make accommodations for the bright light...
Thanks for looking!

I am no way an expert in B&W, in fact I am really bad at conversions (unless I use Lightroom presets) but I am not sure you have nailed the conversions on these. They are great shots (I would love to see the colour versions as i want to know what colour eyes your little one has) I am just not excited on the B&W.
Sorry I can't be more helpful, hopefully someone else how knows more will reply.
Cheers,
your rosie is a cutie-
and I hope your student in the pics is doing good-looks like a happy camper-
you didn't say how you converted or what software you used-
but if your using ps (or maybe even elements) check out andy's tutorial on converting to bw here http://dgrin.smugmug.com/gallery/1126557

There are a million ways of doing black and white conversions, after a levels adjustment I use the channel mixer method. I'm hopeless at explaining - a google search will bring up any number of tutorials - if it hasn't already been covered right here!!
