During the late 1800's and perhaps into the early 1900's, the Great White Egret was hunted almost to extinction because it was fashionable for ladies to have large plumes in their hats. Unfortunately for the egrets, their plumes only appear at breeding season, so naturally ...

This image was captured at High Island this Spring at the height of breeding season. Hope you like it

    Thanks all, this was my first ever visit to the High Island Rookery and I got lots of memorable shots and will definitely return next year!

    Wow! Love the detail. After having so many of my egret shots get trashed, I envy anyone who can do what you just did.
