What is that feature called and where can I find it?!?!

I once saw someone set up their camera, and then walked away from it and the camera automatically took a picture about every 10 seconds. What is this feature called and on which cameras can I find it?

    Hey, I know the answer to that one! Cool! It's called the variosmclsnsder. Spelling might vary in your owner's manual. Hang on, I'll look it up.

    OK, I'm back.

    On my Canon G3 it's called the "Intervalometer." Intervals, get it? lol3.gif On my camera, it's totally flexible. I can set any interval that I want, and it will keep shooting until the memory card's full, the battery's dead or the cows come home. Which is handy, if you're shooting cows.

    I think the G5 canon has this ability. It has a prog you put on the computer & dial in when you want it to take the shots & what intervals. 90 mins max from memory.

    The 10D will do it too, but you need the TC-80N3 timer remote...a $130 option.

    Some cameras can shoot tethered to a computer to shoot a sequence of shots too. It allows even more control and the ability to write to a hard drive, giving you greater storage capacity.

    Manyh of the Canon DSLRs can do this - this is the website for DSLR Remote Pro which is software that allows you to operate your camera from a laptop and capture the images on its hard drive..... Kind of like some of the studio digital cameras do..
