Hi, I'm very new to SmugMug and am also new to macro photography but it is quickly becoming a passion. Here are a couple of photos of the same little bug. I've been told it is a Robber Fly. The first photo was taken with my little Fuji FinePix 30 Camera and the second photo was taken with my Canon XTi with a 100mm macro lens.

Hi there Janie, and welcome to Dgrin
Those Robber Flies are pretty intimidating not only in their shear size,
but they look like they are capable of giving a nasty sting.
First time I ever saw one close up I was terrified of it.
Gosh they photograph well though don't they
That's the good thing about being interested in Macro,
sorta takes the fear away, because you want to get closer to photograph it, and check out it's body structure
Nice shots Janie, nice to see so many people interested in Macro joining the forum lately....... welcom aboard ... Skippy
