This shot was taken from one of the viewing platforms at 18mm and shows about 1/4 of the photographable rookery. There is another island in Clay Bottom Pond, but is too far away for photographing birds.

A marvelous sight. Makes it want to hop in the car and head over to Texas.

Come on over Harry, sometime next April - you will see some egg-sitters earlier in the month, hatchlings about the middle, and maybe a few "flappers" towads the end. I've been told the Egret kids have learned to fly along with the spooines. Just some pre-teen Snowies and Tri-colors now.

I was as jaw-dropping stunned with my first sight of the Rookery as when I first walked up to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon! Yes I do have some close-ups which I'll post in another thread.
