Has anyone ever tried this brand?

From their website it looks like this cord would work for connecting a Canon Speedlight to a camera and maintaining the ability to use E-TTL. And in the pictures on that site it also looks like when the cord is connected that you could still have an additional flash on top of the camera? Does that sound right?

I'm trying to find an alternative to Canon's over priced cord, and this is 20 dollars cheaper. Just want to make sure it would actually do everything that the Canon cord would. And from the looks of it this one it might actually be better quality than the Canon since it is made out of metal.

Thanks!

I don't think so. As I see it, your off-camera flash is connected/mounted to the top connector. The base of that unit appears designed to lock onto a mounting plate that would be similar in fit/form to a hot shoe. It would appear that they are intended that this be mounted to a light stand like you would with a wireless setup, but without the wireless trigger.

The connector seen in the bottom of the photo you posted is attached/connected to the camera hot-shoe.

But, what I find really interesting is the fact that these cords come in up to 4' lengths. That might be worth investigating. Especially as the price is quite a bit less than the Canon version, which is only 2' long.

I can't believe I missed that. I was looking at the cord backwards!! You are completely right.

It was the price and teh lengths and the build that attracted my eye. In reading about how it is built it seems like it may be a little better quality. I'll probably call them today and check about the complete compatibility with EOS Speedlights for E-TTL and E-TTL2. If they say it is I'll probably try out the 4' model, since it is only 4 bucks more than the 2' model.

    Reviews?
So did you end up purchasing this? I am looking into it as a cheaper, longer (and better quality in some ways?) alternative to the Canon cord.

Anyone used this before? Please let me know, I just got my Canon 430ex and am dying to do some off camera shots!

Just an update on this. I just ordered this cord today, so as soon as it arrives and I have a chance to play with it I'll let everyone know how it is!
