Tender Family Scene

This past week has brought an abundance of baby birds ready to leave their nests in my neighborhood. I captured this little fledgling and his parent huddling in a tree. The other parent was a few feet away keeping guard while resting on a street sign. They one by one reunited in another tree across the street further away from the nasty black camera. DOF is a little too shallow....one of these days I'll get it. :D

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

I like the bright background.....and I think the shot is absolutely perfect....guess that means I am agreeing with Harry thumb.gifthumbthumb.gifthumbthumb.gifthumbbowdown.gifbowbowdown.gifbowbowdown.gif and yes the dof is perfect also.

Thanks Marina. Well, it was midday, and bright open shade and I was pointing up towards the sky, so the shot is bright, but it is one thing I like about it. I guess one could control that more in processing or by using fill flash, (didn't have time for that!). Thanks for commenting.

Absolutely wonderful. I think the DOF of field is perfect and the brighter backrground really lets the little birds POP out of the picture. VERY frame worthy!!!

Thanks alot Art! I'm pretty pleased with it. It also was the first time I've been able to approach a bird that close with only the 200. Usually I'm shooting from my car!!!

Excellent capture. I like it a lot. It's always fun to get the fledglings with mom or dad.

What a sweet photo. I sometimes try taking photos out on the back deck, but they fear the big black camera (or me headscratch.gif ) and fly off to perch somewhere too far for a good shot. So I can appreciate your great capture!

Quite a nice shot and for being during the middle of the day, you handled the brignt ambient light quite well.

Thanks Glenn and everyone else. Yes, I forgot to mention that they were Phoebe's, although I thought one was an adult and one a fledgling, judging by the tailfeathers.
