Skim Boarder.

Being under the weather for the past few days, I wanted to get out of the
house. Santa Cruz is often nice when it's cloudy on my side of the hill.
So off I went.

Not much happening but found these skim boarders on the other side of
the surfers. Skim boarder's ride a thin sometimes disk like board that is thrown
into the surfline and ridden.

They were a barrel of fun to watch.

They are fun to watch, I had a conversation with an adult skim boarder, it was quite interesting, his reasons, something along the lines of not drowning... :):

You got a good action shot there! It was gray, gray, gray all day, and nasty cold. The kind of day you want a nice picture window overlooking the ocean while you are safe and warm beside a roaring fire in the fireplace with a nice warm throw over your knees, a good book, and a nice hot cup of cocoa or tea. But instead I was out in the nasty cold!

Great clarity on these action shots! I like the colouring better in the first one, but it also seems the most grainy.

Nice captures though. I'd love to give skim boarding a go. thumb.gif

Nice shots, and thanks for bringing back memories of something i use to do on the north shore of Oahu as a kid. funny how this water related sport has never caught on in Oz.

I love the 2 photos. Skim boarding is a ton of fun. Pretty hard to learn and stay on the board, but once you do, its very fun!clap.gif

As kids, we made our own out of plywood. Varnished those bad boys and then
off to the beach. Hella fun times.

    Glad you enjoyed them!
