We just had a fantastic vacation/visit from some of our Alaska family! I thought I'd share a few of my faves from some of the various shoots we did while they were here...

EDIT - I'd appreciate any C&C...tips on processing, etc...

#1 Oregon coast...our evening light disappeared behind clouds, so the eyes didn't end up as bright as I'd wished and the shutter speed was a bit slow, so it's not quite as sharp as I'd like, but...I still like it!

#2 Oregon coast sunset

#3 My niece...I made her the blue cloak...she's really into Lord of the Rings types of literature and attire!

#4 My niece again...

#5 My nephew...wish I had more light in the eyes, but I love the expression!

#6 Another nephew

Wow, those are really great shots! I bet the family loves them. I think the sunset one is really fantastic, and I love that you let your niece "be herself" with the cloak.

I really like the first one except I may have had the shorter son stand under the mother.
No complaints about the rest. I keep going back to #3 for some reason. thumb.gif

Thank you! Yes, I believe they are happy with them. I think my niece was thrilled to have some cloak pictures taken in some tall trees...fulfilling her fantasy of being an elf in the "Lord of the Rings" series! :D I was thrilled to have such a willing subject who took direction so well!

Thank you very much! Yes, I agree about the positioning of the boys. Posing is not something I'm good at seeing through the lens yet, at least with more than one person, Laughing.gif! I love #3 too, but it's startling how grown up she looks there!

Beautiful shots, love them all. #3 is my favorite - the lighting, mood and DOF all work harmoniously together. It's like a still from a movie! thumb.gif

Super shots Elaine!!! I really like the group shots in spite of your minor complaints. I think the positioning of the boys was a small thing, it's still a great family portrait and I bet they love it! #3 is just out of this world!!!! What a cool aunt you must be! It is absolutely beautiful and she must be thrilled. I agree with Nik that it would be fun to do some special LTR 'effects'. You should be very pleased with these! thumb.gifthumb.gif

I like the first one too! Love the way you placed the development relative to the people. I don't know why, but I just like it a lot!

Sunset - this is a real stunner. I just love it. You have a nice wave, strong silhouettes, and great reflections. A real winner!

Composition of #3 and #4 are great. I just love them. I pulled one of them to my machine to see if my eyes were playing trick on me (they appear to have a green cast to the skin), but I couldn't find it in the numbers.

Oh, and yeah, you should be very pleased with this whole set!thumb.gif

Great shots, all of them. I especially like the sunset shot and the first one of your niece in the cloak.

I must also cast my vote for #2.

    Very well done.

By the way, the cloak - that is a very thoughtful idea!

Thanks again, all! This place does wonders for my confidence!! mwink.gif And thanks for the compliments on the cloak...I made it for her for Christmas and I think one of the shots her mom got of her opening it would fit right into the "Joy" theme!
