I live in a college town, so everyone's a buzz about graduation, this time of year. A nice thing about living in a university town is the faces all change each year, with lots of characters coming and going; plenty of opportunity for people shots. It also keeps an historical town a bit avant-gard. Thanks for the kind comments on this graduation photo.
Nice shot. My first thought was to blurr the background more with aperture setting, but then you would have lost the graduates in the background and I think seeing them is good.
yeah you got that background blur PERFECT. Not to much and not too little. The waterfall. The moment. I like seeing shots like this. It could be used for teaching also. Had they looked at you, this shot would have just been normal.
I like this photo. I can just imagine the lady on the left starting to cry in a moment or two; there's that sense of impending emotional storm about it. Makes me wonder what actaully did happen in the next five minutes or so. This is the sort of photograph where the major portion of the emotion is implied rather than explicit. Very well done!
I love this photo because not only does it say so much without saying it up-front, but it really rings with something in myself that I get very emotional about. Change, goodbyes, new lives, leaving familiar ground... all of these things are so bittersweet.
