I was in upstate NY this past weekend and this little fella (actually I think it might be a female?) was always flying by. Anyone know what it is?

From the shape, I would say it is one of the swallows, but specifically I cannot say.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Ahh, thank you! I love his blue irridescent upper - it is so pretty. He was catching bugs and bringing them back to what I assume was a nest of little ones inside a bird house in my grandmother's garden.

Thank you! He kept landing on that hook and I tried a few different angles to get some good lighting. One angle had a white house in the background which I didn't like so I had to move to the angle in this photo for some green fields, but he almost always landed facing the other direction. It was a little bit of time waiting for him to actually turn his head my way. I'm so glad he did!

I've got some pics of him in front of the bird house, checking surroundings to make sure it was safe to go inside, but there was harsh light on the left of the house and of course shadow on the front where the perch and hole were. I'll PP one of those and post here but I'm not that happy with how they turned out.

I combined 2 exposures, one for the bright side of the bird house and one for the front, then adjusted the dynamic range. Having the swallow in the shadows just doesn't do justice for his beautiful color, plus the photo isn't very sharp.

Here he is with dinner for the babies! :D
