Wanting to have a Remote shutter release for the Pentax K10D, I looked in the magic box @ ebay and other places to see the options. Most IR remote will work with several brands of cameras. These remotes range in price from $4.00 to $90.00 ($90 for a single function remote what's up with that.) This got me thinking.
I found that the "SAT" button on my Sony RM-V502 works as a shutter release on the Pentax. :thumb (this button is set to the default, so I assume that its a Sony code.)
So since most IR shutter releases work on different brands of cameras and most Sat-receivers are going to be in the same basic Freq range, there is a good chance that the "Sat" button on any Multi-function remote will also work as a shutter release for a lot of cameras.
