Unable to access control panel - problems?

I am unable to access the control panel.

Everything else looks fine - I can wander through my galleries with no problem at all. But when I click on control panel it never finishes loading.

Not a browser problem - I've tried both IE7 & Firefox. Not a network connectivity problem, everything else including smugmug access works fine.

Apparently I spoke too soon. I was able to access my control panel about a half of an hour ago - but the problem is back once again.

Ristyz and I have noticed entrance to the control panel has been sluggish for at least a week.

Of course if we each had faster connections it probably would not be as obvious. But now it's completely stalling.

Mine isn't showing any increase in the number of hits. And i know I am getting hits as I just uploaded a bunch of new pictures.
