Black Crowned Night Heron (Two pics)

These were shot again at the Laguna Madre Trail on South Padre Island, Texas.

He stayed there hunting virtually immobil, but he did finally take off for better hunting grounds as the sun set.

    Yeah, but it is just those dog days of summer. Hopefully more people will have time to comment this weekend if they feel so inclined.

    Funny thing now that I see these two shots together is that the more head-on shot seems soft. I never thought that until now. eek7.gif

    I think it's more of a contrast thing due to the shadows and low light.
