    Lago de'Averno has a bike path around it. The dragons land in the vegetation on either side and I shoot them from the bike path. I'm not gonna tell you that it's easy, but it's better than having to walk through a lot of tall grass or wade through water to get to them ;)

    Awesome detail in these shots.

    How close were you to them? They never want to play with me :(

    For the portraits about 7cm (2 3/4 inches). It takes a while for me to get that close -I haver to convince the dragon that I'm not a predator, and I have to find one that's feeding and territorial about the perch that they are on. I've been shooting them long enough to know when one will let me get close and when I need to move on and find something else to shoot.
