Guys, help me out. I've been working on this picture of my wife for so long
that I can't really think straight about it anymore. Am I on the right track here?

I got her good and drunk before I asked her. She didn't really know what
she was saying "yes" to. :)

Thanks. I'll try to mess around with the crop some more.

The shot is lovely, the eye of course makes this a stunner. Wonderful detail there in the iris, and nice catchlights.

Where the shot starts to lose me is the skin work, theres lots of detail in the bridge of her nose but it gets blotchy/blurry on the models right chin.

There are others here (gmonkeh? you still around?) that have done great work in this area...I'm not really qualified to advise, I'm afraid!

Gorgeous model....and she knows how to pose. thumb.gif

Looks like a lovely photo to me but I agree on the crop-- but I tend to be a 3:2 aspect ratio guy rather than a square format guy.

BTW: my wife proposed to me-- no booze involved at all! She just got tired of waiting for me to ask her... good thing too, or we'd probably still be dating!

hmmm...after a second look...i think this would work much better if her head was straigh in the pic. as it is its a little tilted. you can easily fix this in PS though.

what direction are you trying to go with it?-

I do know that I like this very much-

and your wife is very pretty-

I don't mind the square crop-

and I agree with lynne; the chin area needs a little work-

Thanks very much for the feedback. I tried different crops, but I'm going to
stubbornly stick with the square. I usually prefer traditional crops, just like
you guys, but I think this case is an exception.

However, I am very grateful for pointing out the problems with the
skin. Now that I see it I can't believe how obvious it is. I'm going to go back
to that area and try again and I'll post a new version later. Thanks! :)

Oh, and I'll see about that tilt, as well, although I rather like it. Can't hurt to
    try a different version, though.

I want this retouch to be as close to a glamour retouch as I can get
without going over the top, as they tend to do in magazines and ads.

well, as one who goes over the top on a regular basis, I can't help much-

but the more I look at this, the more I like it-

Thank you, I really appreciate that.

BTW, I just tried fixing the tilt and it does look a bit better, so you guys were
right there, but I'm afraid there isn't much left after cropping so I'll have to
remember this lesson next time I "shoot my wife".
