Recent Storm Chase in North Texas

Here's some pictures from a fairly recent storm chase near my house in Celina, TX on June 9. The cells went severe briefly, and were severe warned while these shots were taken. I love the weather!

Driving down the road, I was so excited when I saw the cows in front of the growing storm tower. I screeched the car to a halt and ran down as close as possible to the bovines to get this. I kind of think they liked having their picture taken.

Severe hail and microburst winds inside there. Lightning coming down everywhere.

A wall cloud starts to get it's act together, but didn't last long.

    Powerful
Especially the first one. What a stack of clouds -- but you are right the cows really make the photo!

    Keep chasing storms! :D

Great shots. On Sunday of last week we got nailed in a storm by Comanche, Texas. It washed out part of our highway and we had to doubleback and head to DeLeon and then back down to Dublin to get back on track.

    Great pics!

WOW! I love thunderstorms on the prairies but have infinite respect for their power. Your photos really show that power - love the first.

Thank you all for the comments! That first shot with the cows was pure luck--the cows matched the clouds and the sunbeam came out as I pulled the car over.

We've been getting a lot of thunderstorms lately (Stephen can attest). Maybe more today. I'm a sucker for weather.
