It would be really helpful if invisible snags of javascript etc. could be put into the pages all the way to the shopping cart and the thank you pages when a buy is completed. I am, of course, thinking of the code pieces that you are given by StatCounter and Google Analytics, for instance.
As it is, it is very hard to produce statistics for how many buys you get from how many visits. Furthermore, we have no chance of finding out how many customers give up along the way when trying to buy pictures, and we have no chance of finding out where they give up.
This has been discussed previously in other DGrin forums, and there is a feature request in the thread dedicated for FRs:

I want this subject raised again in the Pro Sales Support forum, however, since there are aspects here that affect only pro users, and since I have seen no real response from SmugMug support people regarding this wish (please guide me if have simply missed such response).
Best regards,
David List

I understand why you want this. If I was trying to make money on my photos, I'd want the same thing.
One of the obstacles for Smugmug to overcome is making sure that they provide appropriate protection and privacy for credit card numbers and that can get really hard if they allow outside JavaScript into the cart. I'm not saying there isn't a solution to that problem, just that it's one reason why it isn't easy.
