Porting Tags from Picasa to Iphoto or Aperture

I've made the final leap to Mac from PC and bought an iMac to replace my dying Dell desktop. I'm transferring everything over - including the 14,000 images I have on the Dell that I currently use Picasa to keep organized (I use Photoshop for real fine-tuning). I now want to transition my workflow to iphoto or aperture
Here's my quandry. I've been using Picasa to assign keywords/tags to the images but I don't think it embeds them in the source images so iPhoto doesn't see any of them. Since they don't have picasa for Mac that's not an option for me unless I want to run Windows through Parallels and just pretend I have a PC on my Mac.
Question: is there any way I can get the Picasa-assigned tags to my source images or am I looking at spending the next 3 weeks re-assigning keywords to 14K files?
