I was told by the company i am interning for to find a program that lets the company's employees access, view, and maybe download all the photos in its "bank" via the company intranet. password protection etc would be a plus. it has to be professional quality and they are more than willing to pay for it.
does anyone have any ideas? because right now i am kind of lost as to where i should start looking for this. if anyone has any ideas, please PM me, or respond here.

thanks a lot!

Well, this forum is hosted by SmugMug, which is a great solution. Password protection and download are both features that are available.

And use this email address ( ) to save $5 on the registration. You would probably want the power or professional account.

It wouldn't be on the intranet, but on the internet. Even better employees could access it offsite.
"A photo is like a hamburger. You can get one from McDonalds for $1, one from Chili's for $5, or one from Ruth's Chris for $15. You usually get what you pay for, but don't expect a Ruth's Chris burger at a McDonalds price, if you want that, go cook it yourself." - me

i thought that too, but it was just specified that it be available ONLY on the intranet, and that it would NOT be a web based software. i cant seem to find anything anywhere...

Oh. I didn't even see that whole intranet thing.

    Extensis Portfolio doesn't do this?

Portfolio was my first thought; also Canto Cumulus. Both are enterprise-strength (and price) DAMs and are meant for what you're being asked for. Run a Google search on "DAM" or "Digital Asset Management"

How big is the company? How many users? My company uses "Media Collective" from Widen...
