again....

I've been struggling lately with my 'style' and with making sure I'm true to myself. These are a few I shot today with no care about what anyone else thinks. Don't get me wrong, I always LOVE feedback... But I love the way these shots turned out. While i was frustrated at the time that they wouldn't look at me and SMILE (LOL!), after processing them (in Lightroom), I was very happy with the look.

There is something about the sunglasses and the sisterly 'love' that makes me fall in love with this shot the most.

Those things are her face are blades of grass that she'd been throwing in the air. I couldn't make myself remove them....

I love these squinty eyes....

Thanks so much for looking! As always, your comments are always appreciated....

They're wonderful, I particularly like number 3, but the whole series captures the fun and joy of children playing, lovely.

Cute poses. Or maybe I should say "non-poses"? I like your conversion. Looks like you are aiming for more contrast? I've been leaning the same direction, partially due to the gloomy overcast weather and partly due to boredom!!! Keep experimenting and having fun. I think it's good to stir things up a bit. :D

Boy do I understand about developing your own style. headscratch.gif Maybe that is why I have switched to sports lately. Cute pics! If you don't mind I wanted to comment about the grass surrounding the subject in these pics. I like the conversion and think you are going for something more contrasty with your style of conversion but the grass is almost looking like is burned in a little. Maybe too contrasty against the rest of the pic and subject. Example: #2... look at the right side of the picture. The grass near the end of the frame is light versus coming closer to the subject. Turns pretty dark suddenly. Not sure if this happened in the conversion or ?. Hope you don't mind my opinion.

Thanks! #3 included both girls, but Sammie wasn't engaged in the photo and I cropped her out. I was pleased with the result! Thanks....

Thanks, Brige! I actually have a similar shot inside of them from when Sammie (the youngest) was about 4 months old. It was fun recreating it! Thanks again!

Absolutely! I love stirring things up, trying different things - and I really like pushign the contrast lately. It just gives and edge to some of my photos that I really like...

    Thanks again!

These are lovely.:D I like the shots of the girls by themselves, and I might like #4 turned 90 degrees like #3. Could you tell me how you get that shade of brown? It's really great. Being PS challenged, I've never been able to make a luscious shade like that.

Thanks, Jill! I had #4 turned, but honestly... Sammie looked oddly skinny that way - I think because of the tilt (I took it sideways). It doesn't look bad, but it makes her look funny....

As for the color, I didn't use PS, I used Lightroom. I am now a LR snob. Laughing.gif! Seriously, it's amazing. I get the creamiest conversions, the warmest colors, the best contrast without blowing things out - and the most consistancy I've ever gotten......

Here is where I've gotten some of my presets:http://www.lightroompresets.com/
http://inside-lightroom.com/st.php - the one I downloaded is called New Mexico Road - I used that and then tweaked it a bunch for my purposes... I LOVE it right now!

    Thanks again!

It's a wonderful series, and anyone who doesn't like them is crazy! Really Andi, they're beautiful.

(and I agree with your choice not to remove the grass!)

If this is your style, I like it :D

Thanks Andi, I tried LR when it was in beta and I couldn't understand how to use it. It seemed very complicated. I may look into it again.

Jill! It's totally worth looking at and figuring out! Download the 30 day trial when you have time to watch these videos: http://www.whibalhost.com/_Tutorials/Photoshop_LR/01/

Once i started using LR, my editing time went WAY down, the photos were better and I tried a LOT more interesting and new things. it's not a replacement for PS for some things, but it is for other things. They work awesome together!

HTH! Holler if you have questions. I'm a LR snob now! Laughing.gif!

    fudgey creamy yummy! :)
    Lovely series Andi....wow!

I think you sell yourself short on your color shots sometimes, but I do love the toning and contrast in these. I love the first one, like you do, but they're all wonderfully personal, natural captures.

The great thing about LR presets is they are much easier to tweak to taste (at least for me) than PS actions. I never could figure out how to customize them, and they usually were overkill.
