One of the things I wish to get better at is candids/street/pj style photos of people -- the ones that aren't related to me. I'm finally starting to feel more comfortable doing it and thought I'd share some from the beach tonight.

More are in my gallery if you want to see them...

Would love to hear what you think!

    Thanks Wes,

Most of these people entertained me and my family for quite a bit... we love to people-watch and imagine their stories. The woman in the lawn chair was a riot the way she plopped down in the middle of the park by herself. And the guy with the dog... well... we had a whole "circle of life" joke going. :D

These are wonderful, Amy! The first one is so sweet! The second one is so relaxing... The third one is the only one I'm not wild about. The fourth and fifth ones crack me up, for some reason.

    Wonderful shots, fantastic conversions!

    Thanks Andi!
#4 and #5 - seeing them in person was cracking me and my family up too... which is what provoked me to take the shots to begin with! The couple with the dog were exactly what you'd expect... and it seemed to us the guy loved his dog more than his girl - Laughing.gif - but she was on her cell phone 1/2 the time anyway, so it was probably justified. :D

Bernard and Evory... thanks so much! I love to hear people pick out their favorites. Wanna share why you like best the ones you do?

    Amy,

The composition and conversion in all of your photos is excellent.

    Specifically:

#2: peaceful solitude. Excellent control of depth of field.

#4: excellent lighting and contrast. I love the way the light comes through the trees.

#5: excellent lighting and contrast here too. Excellent DOF. The sky and clouds are gorgeous.

Thanks for sharing stories behind the pictures. I always enjoy hearing those.

    Regards,
    Wes

I like number 2 because there are so many lines in it. There's the line of the
pier, the line of the horizon, the line of wood stumps in the water, the line
of the shadow on the beach. And then, there's the lady sitting on the beach
not caring about all these lines and the fact that she's disrupting them. :)

cool, but your composition could do with a bit of work. notice how the horizon almost always falls in the middle. also, try get in a bit closer. i can actually feel that you were spying from far away, rather than being part of the action and capturing the emotion/expressions up close.
