Your color, however seems to be off quite a bit. On my calibarted monitor, these look very red. I downloaded a copy (L sized) from your site and measured it. Yep, your whites aren't quite white.

I calibrate as well.
I shot these in the natural light near a large window, and they looked a tad red to me as well. In the end I decided against changing it. I think the red cast comes from the red curtains near the window. At least thats the best reason I could come up with. The children are of african american decent, and the blanket was a very creamy natural white. I desaturated a few of the color shots a few points to lessen the effect, but the colors were pretty much true to the actual colors I was seeing as I shot. I am usually pretty anal about WB, and will generally set custom WB if my colors aren't " real " in camera, but in this rare case the camera duplicated reality quite well. I wouldn't know where to begin to change it anyway. I guess just pull the red back a bit in the color balance tool, but there isn't a thing in any of them that is true white except the whites of their eyes in one or two shots.
I am actually anxious to get a color print through smugmug of one or two of these to see how their auto color control handles it.

I just realized what you said within what you said. My photos, unless agreed upon with my clients should be right click protected. How exactly did you DL and what do I need to do to block that?

That said, while I appreciate and respect your decision about the WB/color issue, if they were my photos I would desaturate the red just a bit. The idea would not be to change the reality of the newborns' skin tones but to make the color a little less dramatic for the viewer. That way he or she isn't distracted and will concentrate only on the beautiful babies. Of course, in the end, it is the parents' opinion and yours that count not mine!! I, too, am interested in how the SmugMug prints will come out. Let us know.

I have never been more nervous than when taking these pics. I finally stopped looking at them as itty bitty people, and began treating them as still life/ abstract subjects. The results in the viewfinder were immediately more pleasing to me. These two are tiny. The sis is two months old and just tips seven lbs. Brother is quite a bit heavier but still tiny. I cannot for the life of me remember mine feeling so light!!
I have a lot to learn on infant photography. I think the gals on this site definately out do the guys in this type of work.
Some of you seem concerned with the WB in the color shots. I guess I would have been a bit more concerned if their Mom had wanted color photos. However, she specifically requested B&W and or sepia when we originally talked, so I didnt spend a bunch of time fixing something I would throw away anyway.
She has ordered 55 4x6's, 12 5x7's, and 1 8x10 of this set and not a single one in color. I am glad I listened to her because had I spent the time tinkering with color it would have been for naught. I do plan to order one in color for my own sake. I want to see what smugmug's auto color does for the red tones. My little experiment if you will.
Thank you all for your replies and comments
