R1800 to Red/Magenta

I really like my R1800 printer, actually I think my wife and her digital scrapbooking REALLY LIKE the printer! Anyway, I have noticed a heavy magenta/red cast lately. I am using a calibrated monitor, OEM inks, and Ilford Smooth Pearl paper, all the other colors look good so it is a tad frustrating. I use the .icc profile from Ilford, and I tried the Epson lustre profile, and there is little if any difference between the two.
I let photoshop determine colors, and use the relative color metric option, with black point compensation etc.... This is rather frustrating as the printer does a BEAUTIFUL job!!!
Does anyone have an idea of what I might have to change or adjust? I really appreciate any help.

I have the r800, which is essentially the same printer. You can read about my various printer woes on a few threads in this forum, essentially when I learned the things you've already seemed to have picked up.
When you say 'lately', does that mean that the printer was fine up until a few days ago or so? Have you run through all the diagnostics, like head cleaning and so forth? I know that they use ink, but if you've got a red cast, it could be that your greens or blues are blocked up. This happens to me occasionally on the r800, more so after a long absence.
Also, are you using a CRT or and LCD to display your images? How recently did you calibrate the monitor? CRTs tend to wander outside of calibration more than LCDs do, but apparently LCDs can as well. Weird calibration issue with newer nvidia cards and dual monitors-- colorvision software just doesn't play nice with dual monitors, so the calibration is always wrong. If you have that kind of setup, reverting to a single monitor setup that you've calibrated recently could help.
I hope that's useful...

As for my monitor(s), yes I have 2, and they are LCD. You are also correct about the software not working well for both. I use 1 for editing, and the other for the pallets mostly. Having said that, a single 30" sure sounds nice!
I am getting picky I know, but I think I can lose the red/magenta if I work at it.

Try unplugging one of your monitors, and making sure the calibration is for your one remaining monitor.
The other potential issue, and I hate to say it, is profiling the printer. I thought about going this route, until I tried the ultra premium paper (which I rave about in another post). I haven't tried printing people pictures yet, just one sunrise, but the fact that I managed to print it with just one trial when I normally take between three and seven to get the colors _just_ _right_ says something to me.
