WTB: Canon 5D

My trusty Canon G2 finally gave up the ghost this past weekend and with a 5-month-old baby boy I’m quickly finding everyday without a camera is an opportunity lost forever. I've been saving up to replace the G2 with a 5D eventually but am willing to max out the CC’s at this point. So is anyone selling a 5D, does not have to be perfect as I can live with small scratches etc just needs to work and take good pictures. I don’t watch any of the other photo boards so if anyone spots anything here or elsewhere please let me know. Thanks!!!

PS: The first pic is after I told him dads camera was broken.

No I'm in the big city but would happily travel to Springdale, Hildale, Toquerville, Teasdale or even Beaver for the right camera and of course Zion NP would be a great place to test out a new-to-me 5D!

Ok no love on a 5D yet but I did find a local deal on a 10D. Not the 5D I want but I can pick it up this weekend and it uses the batts from my G2. Should I wait and just get a 5D or look for a 30D if I'm going to go less than full frame? Anyone still shooting with a 10D?

Depends on the price you would be getting the 10D for and how much money you have to spare. I never sold my 10D still holding onto it as a backup to my 20D (although it never gets used). The 10D is a great little camera, but the 30D or even 20D are better camera's. So it really is a money and time factor. How fast do you need it, and how much are you willing to drop on it.

I had a 10D for a very short period before selling it and moving to the 20D. My biggest gripe about the 10D was the startup time. When fully turned off or in its sleep mode, it takes several seconds to start up. If you like how long it takes for your G2 to start up, then the 10D won't bother you. I still have a G2 that my wife uses and I still hate the startup time!

There are some other very minor control differences on the back that I think you'd like the 20D a bit better.

    Regards,

Yea I had just picked up a new 2gig card and waited for 2 min+ before I realized the G2 was really dead as it was normal for it to have a really slow startup. I'm guessing the slow start would not be a deal breaker as the other improvements would overshadow that issue.

Willing to sell my 5d for $2350 + I have grip will sell seperate for $200

or together I will sell all for $2500

For all who might inquire. I will not sell grip before body.

Camera puchased mid December 06. Box and some papers and wires and all that stuff included. Basically it's flawless with some minor dust on the mirror that I will clean before I send it out. Not looking to lose out anymore money from the deal, I'd rather keep the camera if no one is interested because it is great and I still use it. Just tempted to getting the 1dmk3. Thats the only reason I consider selling it.

Sounds like a fairly decent price for a low use 5D, I missed buying one during the last super rebate time but I guess that many of those who got in on it are more than likely still waiting for those rebate checks anyway! Is the sensor dusty and any pics of the actual camera? Also any other sales, references etc. as a first time poster on DG??

Adaptive is a fine fella. No need to worry about him. I've dealt with him before, and in case you're not familiar with me, I've done about $100k in sales between FM and POTN.
