It's a double room for you and another photographer. Two beds. We don't make any accommodations for anyone not participating in the workshop. It's a relaxed and fun atmosphere, but we're intent on getting the most out of our time together, and we want you to get the most out of this workshop. The workshop is just not intended for families. Sorry.

That's fine, David. I was not expecting any accomodations for the family.

We still have some room left on this trip. If you're on the fence, here's some inspiration for you.

Our Wild Utah trip was a huge success. Here you can read what kind of experience it was.

This kind of full-immersion trip is really the best way to hone your craft. Check out the info link in the first post for more, uh, info.

For this trip: bring the monopod or leave at home?

I would recommend bringing a tripod for sure because of the waterfalls, sunrises and sunsets. If you use a monopod and are used to it then bring it providing you have spare space in your luggage:D

Thanks, Mark. The tripod was a definite bring along. I was just curious if others found having both was helpful. I am thinking that the monopod may well stay at home.

Join SmugMug's Landscape Photography Artist-in-Residence Marc Muench and me, Andy Williams in Shenandoah National Park this October, to photograph the changing of the season.

All the details, at Muench Workshops.

Ask any questions here in this thread :D

Can I also whine in this thread? :D

I live just outside DC and would *love* to come spend the week with you all, but I just can't afford a week off of work or the price of admission at this point. If this were only a 2 or 3 day affair, I could probably swing it.

    Oh well ... :(

    THE COLORS ARE TURNINGclap.gifclapclap.gif

Just spoke with a park ranger and she mentioned that the colors have turned yellow with some oranges pokin up on the tops. With more seasonal cool weather on the way it ought to look great next weekwings.gif

I have to tell people who aren't from around here that "seasonal cool weather" means something different around these parts. rolleyes1.gif

    10 day forecast Waynesboro, Va.

Not to mention that EVERY weather report for this week has been wrong for the DC area, but what else is new?? Temps this weekend are supposed to drop to the upper 60s, low 70s. (Currently we've been getting upper 80s). It's always changing around here though, so before you pack I'd check the weather again. thumb.gif

Have a great time and take tons of great shots!

Also keep in mind that all of the towns that weather channel has forecasts for, such as Waynesboro, VA (south end of park), Front Royal, VA (north end of park), and Luray"]Luray, VA (near middle of park) are down in the valley. Temperatures in the mountains can be as much as 10 degrees cooler, so take that into consideration as you pack as well.

Based on the current forecast if I were going I would plan for daytime highs in the mid 60s, and overnight lows right around freezing, or slightly above.

I hope all the attendees have a great time, I wish I had the time to be able to take off from work and the finances to go on this trip, as the park is less than two hours from my house.

Quick warning to check the weather again. Temps have dropped 10 - 20 degrees depending on if you're up or down, near the water, or behind the trees.

Welcome to the area, we can never decide what the weather should be like.
