Import problems Lightroom 1.1

Hi,

Since upgrading to 1.1 I've been experiencing very slow and sometimes stalled import from my card reader.

After importing into Lightroom I also import into iPhoto as a backup and this still works fine so I know it's not the card.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Charlie

I'm guessing the answer is no.

Do you ahve all of the suggested resources (ram etc etc) that adobe suggested for the upgrade? I didn't ( adobe suggested min750mb ram and I am setting at 512) so I have not installed it as of yet....plus I do not think I am in need of it yet as I have not really learned the ins and outs of 1.0 yet....

Hi Art, yes I'm using a Quad Core Mac Pro with 5GB Ram, one thing I have noticed is that with the old version it would often fail to import two or three images out of say 150, whereas iPhoto would have no such problem.

Lightroom has stopped failing to import images since the upgrade but has developed this new issue so I'm working on the idea that the problems are related.

Anyway I'll sniff around on the Abode support forums and elsewhere on the Web to see if anyone else is experiencing the same issues.

    Not me!

Hi, which import method do you use, a card reader, direct from camera?

No issues for me. I'm running LR1.1 on WinXP Home, importing from a SanDisk CF reader.

I've never gotten the card import to work for Lightroom reliably, even in beta. What I do is copy the photos locally in the finder, which works perfectly well, and then do a local import but leave the files where they are in lightroom. That works pretty well.

I'm not the only one to experience this problem; another friend of mine had lightroom crash during an import and somehow munched the card itself; it took a bit of finagling to find it again and copy the photos (this time via finder).
