IQ Idaho asked me to shoot and design a cover shot for them. This is of a former Boise ID mayor. These are the two concepts I came up with. Which would you use if you were the editor?

The editor is leaning heavily towards one and I strongly like the other.

I'm not sure either works as I'm not sure what I'm buying :D

If I had to pick one, it'd be the monopoly shot. I'd like to see it lit
    better though--too dark.

I like composition on the second shot. What exactly is this cover for, does it have to represent something? Both shots are great, however.

I agree--it would be nice to know something about the magazine. Nice shots, though.

Thanks all for the comments. A little about the magazine and the cover story... IQ Idaho is a professional business magazine for the state of Idaho. The former mayor of Boise had some events happen during his term that eventually he spent some time in prison. The editor, who happens to be an attorney, has secured an exclusive interview. His conclusion after the interview is that although he made some mistakes, the outcome was unwarrented especially compared to other political figures in Idaho and around the country that had events far worse with far less punishments.

Gus, you are right about the similar look.
