Blue Carpenter Bee (MPE-65)

This guy never sat still -way too many shots in the bit bucket. I nailed the focus about one in three frames...

This guy is also huge: 25mm (1 inch) long.
All Canon gear: Xti (manual mode, F 16, 1/200, ISO 100) + MPE-65mm macro lens + MT-24EX with home made diffusers. All images are at life size.

    Those Carpenter Bees are pretty big.
    You sure do find a great variety of bugs to shoot John.

    I shoot here in Naples, and I have family about an hour north in Gaeta (where I shot this weekend). There are a lot of interesting creatures out in the country side here -and I haven't even seen a small fraction of them yet...
