Fort MacArthur hosts an annual war reenactment and artillery show so I went this year. It was overcast and hence made for lousy shooting with low contrast and lousy colors.

So I went for a desaturated old time look.

Man these are fantastic. My favorite (but I love them all) is the close up. (it really showes his eyes- makes it more personal, and not just a nameless, faceless soldier)
But truly- I love your color treatment and composition. I really enjoyed your post. Great job!

    Wow...

Those are really great pics. I really like the desaturated look.
Looks like you had "full access". Were you a designated photog?

#2 - what's in the upper right corner?

#7 - bullet hole in his helmet eek7.gif Must be a hand me down.

#8 - these guys got to World War II a little early rolleyes1.gif

    Good Job thumb.gif

I think it's another vehicle in no.2 or a flag, that's a tab on the helmet for a strap I think, the other guy's helmet has it too, and they also had other reencators including civil war, I thought catching multiple muzzle blast was kind of cool.

I didn't have any special access and these were all taken from the side with the crowd with the bigma which lets me get real close to the action.

Honestly, I usually HATE re-enactment photos. They are too crisp, clear and saturated for my tastes. These, on the other hand, are awesome! They look realisitic and are extremely well done. You may not have been happy with the lighting, but I'm very happy with it!

    Awesome job!! clap.gif

Your lously lighting worked wonders for this type of subject matter. The desaturated coloring gives a very vintage and realistic feel to the shots. Usually they are bright and garish in color and just don't have the ambience that these do. Great job in PS!!!! thumb.gif
