It was beautiful today so I headed out to Silver Creek Falls in Oregon, near Salem, to get some shots with a model. These were shot with the canon 30D and 85mm f1.2L II lens. Comments and criticism welcome.

Beautiful girl and great composition. I see a lot of magenta, was it done on purpose?

Thank you. Yes it was done on purpose. Like it, don't like it? I'm playing around with the RAW conversion controls in Photoshop a lot more now so these photos were somewhat experiments. Maybe I'll tone down the magenta a little.

    Isaac:

Aren't there some waterfalls in that park? :D

In other words, I think these shots would be improved if there was a better sense of place and less post-production. In a place like Oregon, you can usually let nature offer up the special effects. You're going to an awful lot of effort to get a model out to Silverton-- why not take advantage of the world-class scenery?

Yeah, yeah, easy for me to say since I've never done a Silver Falls shoot. But it's a great idea!

2nd pic makes her arm look really hairy for some reason (maybe it is?) but because its darker than other parts it makes it look perhaps hairier than it really is

otherwise, i really like these. nice color and composition.

thumb.gif Gorgeous woman.and I agree about the scenic areas in Oregon.you have places much like I do...go with the flow of the area surrounding you....I sometimes find myself overusing specific areaseek7.gif

Beautiful model - The second is my favorite, I believe because it best uses the lush green background that the area is known for, as dogwood said. The color of her dress also compliment the greenery very well. It makes me want to see more of her and the scenery.

    Thanks for the replies all.

Hindsight I agree that I should have got more of the scenery, and waterfalls, in the photos. I just got the 85mm f1.2 lens though so I've been using that lens more than my others. I do have some shots that show more of the scenery though. I'll post them in a couple days when i get around to editing them.

Is it just me or does the top "white" of her left eye look green in the third picture? I like the second.

ya, it has a tinge of green. The reason is color polution from all the green surrounding her. I also made the greens more vivid in that photo so whatever green reflection as in her eyes already was just amplified. Thanks for pointing that out though. It should be a pretty easy fix.
