Many of the previous "sports" related threads have been moved here (by some mysterious force )
This is a nice series The first one is really sharp.
What I want to know is how could you calmly sit there taking pics while that other boy is kicking and landing on your son's head?....lol
Thanks for sharing,
Steve

The expressions that get captured are really amazing! Everything from intensity, determination, through fear.

Ramblings About Me
I figured out what was going on after I had a cuppa coffee
Thanks! Well, I just shoot. I used to stop shooting anytime there was a scoring opportunity against, but if you do that you never catch the saves either! The more intense a game is, the more the shutter goes! It really is a lot of fun.
I've now done other teams (never seen them play before) for individual action shots - 1 hr to get a good usable shot of each of 16 players in a game situation - and I've succeeded both times! I'm pretty impressed with myself!

Otherwise I may just crop the shooter out, because you really did catch the goalie at a great moment in the save.
I suspect I was shooting at the goalie.
He is my son, I knew the play was coming his way - they were 2 men short at the time - he saw a lot of shots.
This particular arena has better lighting conditions than most - the ceiling is not quite as high I think.
In any case, these are with the 85mm f1.8
I use ISO 1600 and f2.2 and typically 1/400, on a monopod. These were 1/500, I got away with it here but not in other arenas.
Slower than 1/400 has too much motion blur. Smaller apeture is generally underexposed.
Thanks
