One from tonight
I did a family shoot and we used my aunt's farm as our location (gorgeous property). Well the strangest thing happened...bet THIS hasn't happened to anyone here. LOL As soon as we pulled up, one of those crop-dusting airplanes started spraying the two fields on either side of my aunt's house, which meant he was flight RIGHT OVER her house. I mean like 10 feet over her house and I'm NOT exaggerating. Well, one of the family members was a 2-year-old, and while he thought the plane was cool at first, later he thought it was LOUD and SCARY. So, no great family shots. He's upset in most of them. I did get some great ones of their daughter, though. Oh, and the plane left the very minute we stopped shooting. I kid you not. I would've tried for more but the kids were tired and it was dark. Oh well, live and learn. Never thought i had to call the crop dusting place for their schedule, though! LOL

Bye the bye, did you get any crop dusting shots you could share?
Here's one more I like:
It would have been perfect! Now it's "just" great.

I love that first shot, and I don't really miss the tip of the elbow. I didn't even notice it till I read Bernard's post. I don't understand why it's OK to cut off the top of someone's head yet a missing elbow or shoe tip is not. It's not like the composition is utterly wrecked or something vital is missing here.
Very nice set, Jan.
Cheers,
other hand, is completely black. This jumps off the screen at me and it's why
I noticed it immediately.
I didn't say it's not OK. There are no strict rules (or at least ones that can't
be broken). I just think that in this specific case the cut elbow doesn't
look good, because of the black left side.
No, not "utterly" wrecked. I still think it's great. But it would have been even
better (in my opinion) if it wasn't cut off.
I wholeheartedly agree.

I know, I suck! That's the first thing I noticed, too. :cry I think I might have one w/ the elbow, but her expression is not as good. I'll see what I can do in PP.
Hehe, no you don't.
If you don't get satisfactory results, let me know and I'll have a go as well.

The first one is just spectacular, the only people that would notice or care about the elbow won't be the people ordering them. If you shot in natural light, what are the horizontal white catchlights in her eyes?
I love the third, too! Cute capture and nice conversion!
I'd be thrilled to go back to this location...best of luck next time with the crop dusters! (that's insane!)

I, too, would like to know about the catchlights
I'm really trying to figure this whole lighting thing out...

Behind me was another huge barn, which was shading my shooting location. The sun was setting behind it, so the horizonal white lines are the actual HORIZON above the barn. I can't wait to go there again! Heck, I want MY picture taken there! I think anyone would look good in that doorway.
