Reproduceable Firefox crash

Hi all...
I am running two machines OSX and XP, and both are up to date OS wise, both also use the latest version of the Firefox browser. Both have the same extentions; FoxMarks, WebDeveloper, and SmugBrowser. The crash occurs whether I am logged on to SmugMug or not.

Here is the scenario:
  1. Go to http://www.BELphotos.com and click on Galleries in the top menu
  2. Select my PORTFOLIO gallery
  3. Select ANY photo
  4. Move cursor over photo and select small, medium or large
  5. Wait for it to fully open, count to 10
  6. Click on the X to close the photo
  • On the MAC running OSX it will close normally and you are free to continue
  • On the PC running XP(SP2), FIREFOX will CRASH every time
  • This does not occur with IE7 or Safari 3.0 also running on both machines
  • This DOES NOT occur with any other gallery on my site.
Can somebody try it on their machine with my website and report the results?

Can you try it on your own websites to see if it is a SmugMug problem?

While this is not critical to my operation since I am fortunate enough to have two computers, if it occurs on machines outside of my world then it will probably affect my viewers and customers. :dunno

it happened something similar to me with some photos after yesterday´s smug maintenance, they wont show in FF (no problem with IE), also happened with the photo i use for background :( I made second copy of all of them, delete the original ones and seem to be ok now.

I should have added that this has been ongoing for a few weeks now. I just didn't have the time to uninstall/reinstall Firefox on the laptop PC until just today. I didn't want to post the problem until I performed that function.

Firefox is crashing on me when closing the lightbox view about 70% of the time. This is on Windows Vista 64-bit. I've never been able to reproduce on XP SP2 or Vista 32-bit and can't repro with belphotos.com either on these platforms :(

Closed as normal and FF didn't crash. Details, XP (SP2) FF 2.0.0.4 with Web Developer and Smugbrowser. And OSX FF plain install.

    Hope that helps

    Andrew

    PS Some great photos there.

Sorry, cannot reproduce at all. Try removing any plugins, updating your FF2 as well.

I too can't seem to reproduce this problem. I tried FF 2.0.0.4 win, FF 2.0.0.4 mac, Safari 2, IE6 and IE7.

Have you cleared your FF win cache?
From the Tools menu, select Clear Private Data, and then choose Cache.

What extensions have you installed in your FF win browser?

Cleared all pvt data in FF2, removed extensions, plugins, etc. - Still NG.
Uninstalled FF2 and the downloaded fresh, installed - Still NG.

As I indicated previously, it onlt occurs in the PORTFOLIO gallery. I'm releived to find that I am the only one that is having the problem.

Thanks to all who responded to my query. I'm wondering if it has to do with this gallery being the same one that is on my homepage. I will change this and see if the problem follows. Let you know soon.

Your gallery / homepage settings should never crash your browser. :D

    I just noticed this today:
    http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/2.0.0.5/releasenotes/

You might want to try 2.0.0.5, since there are a number of stability fixes. I've had a couple of plugins crash the browser whenever there's a popup, and I'm hoping this fixes those problems too.

Coincidentally, while I was rebuilding my laptop... - full restore, due to power failure (my bad, as the kids say) that caused the unrepairable corruption of my registry - the new version of Firefox hit the streets. At this point, I'm not sure what fixed my problem, the rebuild or the new version of Firefox. However, everything within the SmugMug application is working perfectly while using Firefox.

I can tell everyone that having Foxmarks installed on Firefox is a BIG timesaver. I have it on my Mac as well as my PC laptop, and it was a simple matter of syncing all the bookmarks through Foxmarks after the restore.

Cool, thanks for sharing. I did not know of that one. I use Google Browser Sync myself.
