Maestro
Soon after I read about your thread on small birds, I went outside to water the garden, with my camera 'round my neck:rolleyes
I have been trying to get a half decent picture of a towhee forever.they are flighty and twitchy things......I think I may have one.not great, but recognizable? He was directly over my head.lol.and I had my 300 zoom lens on........so I had to back up. quickly..lol.and focus..he didn't move! I also got this grosbeak, but he is not sharp at all....it was brilliant outside, and over the birdseed bed he washed out....:dunno

Its a juvenille Black Headed Grosbeak.looks to be female so far.Its just a tad smaller than a robin right now.they get to be about 17-20 cm.and they are rather secretive during the summer, but this year we have had a good show.
