Sandhills with macro lens?
I decided to take it out to try shooting some Sandhills. I'm actually planning on selling this lens. I don't find myself producing anything decent and i can't afford to buy all the fancy-shmancy equipment to do nice macros. The one thing i love about the lens is how sharp it is!!!
I might just buy something longer or a portrait lens. Will see.
Thanks for looking!

Marina hit the button twice!!!
I like these Marina! Why lose the lens?

Marina, the only fancy kit you need for nice macros is a camera, a macro lens and a flash... I think you have those

Spiders
Flowers

Thank you Al, actually, i have no patience for macro shots. I can never be as good as Brian and others. I'm not using this lens, it's pretty much just sitting here I bought it couple of month ago, had my fun, but macro isn't something i'm going to continue. I'd rather get longer less, 300 or 400mm for wildlife

I found myself in the same boat with that lens. It produced great, sharp images I just didn't take enough macro pics to justify keeping it.

I understand your position on the macro lens. I have owned 3 in the past year... a 60mm Canon, a 100mm Canon and a 150mm Sigma. Today I don't own one. I don't do true macro and for closeup shots, there are many alternative ways to do them.
What system are you using? What sort of wildlife work are you looking at doing?

Thanks Harvey, i can do very good close ups with my Nikkor 18-200, so why bother with macro?? I'm using Nikon D80 and my macro is Sigma 105 /2.8
I might consider getting 300mm at least, as far as wild life, there is not much here in FL except birds. I'm planning a trip outwest next May, Yellow Stone etc. Longer lens would be handy!!

Although I have always been a Canon user, I have heard great things about the Nikkor 300/4 lens. I have also seen some awesome images that it has produced. 300mm is a very versatile focal length for wildlife on a crop camera and I think that lens would also handle a 1.4xTC very well.
Perhaps some Nikon shooters would like to pipe in here.
