buy B&H used/refurbed?

have you ever bought used equipment or refurbished equipment from B&H? what exactly does it entail? I mean...technically it could have been thrown in the ocean and then "refurbed" huh? I've never bought used equipment, but I can't afford a new 5D and the refurbed price is pretty good.

any experience with this?

I bought used stuff from B&H few times - no problem at all.
Refurbs should be even better.
You can do it - if you see what you want.

I bought a used 20D at about the same price as the "forums price". B&H rated it a 9 of 10. I for the life of me can't see why it's not a 10/10. Excellent customer service and information on item. Fast shipping plus the B&H return policy. Hard to beat.

Ross, don't tease us like that ... how about a link to the refurb 5D at B&H? I didn't find it with searches...

I have purchased 2 refurbed Canon items and one "used". For the life of me I can't tell the refurb from a new. With the "used" it was a 30D. I paid $880...the best price I could find was a little over $1000 new. It came in the box, all the assessories were still in their packaging and when I just the metadata of my first shot via CS2 I found out the camera only had 96 shot on it.

I was happy.

I just got a Sigma 70 200 2.8 used from BH. It was rated 8+ and the only problem I can find with it is that there's a slight smudge on the lens hood. The glass is clean, it focuses well, and there's really nothing wrong with it.

I've purchased a couple used items from B&H. they were all better than I expected. as always, I'd say buy with confidence from them.

It WAS there....I swear, right after z_28 posted that he thought it'd be fine, I went back to find it, because I was millimeters away from adding it to my cart - and bam - not there. must have had only one of them - and the price really was good. something like $2358...I was depressed. just whenever I went to the NEW 5D, right under it it said "buy used for $2358" then it was gone. : (

If you have 2358 to spend, why not wait, save another $200 and buy a new one?
