Hi,

Just signed up for the free pro trial and i'm going to take out the subscription when it ends.

I have my own domain name www.xxxx.co.uk and I would like to point this to my smugmug site - www.xxxx.smugmug.com

Firstly I'm a newbie to all this DNS/website stuff!

I use 123-reg.co.uk to manage my domain name and I've done the following to set up the DNS but not sure if it's correct

ns1.smugmug.com A 63.81.134.20
ns2.smugmug.com A 63.81.134.21
www.xxxx.smugmug.com CNAME www.xxxx.co.uk

Do I then need to do something else in smugmug or is the above completely wrong?

I presume when you're in a pro 14 day trail you can use your own domain name?

Thanks for your help in advance

    Hi, and welcome :D

    NO nameserver changes are needed.

Go to your domain host, and set up a CNAME Alias. It would be for

    www.yourdomain.com to www.smugmug.com

then, you put www.yourdomain.com in your domain field in your SmugMug control panel.

    More, here: http://www.smugmug.com/help/professional-accounts

Holler to our help desk if we can assist further, okay? http://www.smugmug.com/help/emailreal

many thanks for the quick reply

i will remove the A record entries and just enter the CNAME

certainly smugmug certainly seems like a great product and even better support!

You can leave the A-record if you like - as long as it's pointing to our IP, that's fine.

But be aware our IP address could change, and then you'll need to update the A-record.

hmmmmm I did have an A record in to start but that didn't work. It had been in for 36 hours so I would have expected DNS to have replicated in that time. I've entered the CNAME so I'll see how that goes

I take it as I'm still only in the 14 day pro trial that I can still point my domain name to smugmug and that it works with .co.uk addresses?

    Cheers
