Kruger National Park, South Africa
I had the trip of a life time in South Africa earlier this month. We were in Joburg and Pretoria for a week. Then we spent 2 days in Kruger National Park. Our tour group was in a coach bus so I had to shoot through the tinted window or windshield.
The first day, July 4, was cloudy and sprinkled off and on. Even though it was not an ideal photo condition I was able to get some really nice photos. I had to push the ISO way up on my 30D and the IS on my Canon 70-200 f/2.8L was worth every penny. The bus gave me a good 10-ft vantage point off the ground, but it wasn't as flexible as a passenger car or truck. Tour buses are not allowed on dirt roads in the park, but we were lucky enough to see all of the big five (buffalo, elephant, leopard, lion, rhino) in one day just driving around on paved roads. Weather the next day was much better. We encountered a couple white rhinos near the paved road. At one point, they were literally 10 feet from the bus.
South Africa is truly memorable. The wild life is amazing. The scenery is incredible. I'd love to return some day.
Please enjoy these. Cuong Nguyen.
