Gbh
I am only an occaional bird photographer, but I couldn't resist taking a bunch of shots of this GBH in Rodeo Lagoon. The 70-300 (my longest lens) is a bit short for birds, especially on a 5D so these are fairly severely cropped.

Heh, ya. When I was shooting I wasn't sure what all he had dreged up until I saw him swallow. Thanks.
Thanks. When reviewing this shots I was amazed at how absurd this dignified animal looks with his head buried under a foot of water. I am surprised they don't shy away more from the paparazzi when they are hunting...
Thanks. It was a somewhat tricky morning with patchy fog blowing overhead and intermittent direct sun. When shot this, the light was about as good as it gets; very bright without harsh shadows. Thankfully it held long enough for me to catch the series.
Thanks. He was really working that corner of the lagoon that morning. I saw him grab several small minnows. Luckily everything came together for me when he made a big catch.
Thanks for sharing
