80-400mm f/4.5-5.6 EX DG APO OS (Optical Stabilizer) for Canon.

B&H is asking $999.00 for one new.

Price Reduced - $OLD (includes s/h & paypal)

This has been used in the field, shooting birds and other things (most of that some time ago which is why the shots below are more recent, like yesterday).

My ratings (on a 10 point scale):
Mechanically - 9.9
Optically - 9.9, no dust, either inside or outside (like new, but nothing's a ten)
Finish - 8 (there are some blemishes to the finish)

Treated very, very well. Never dropped, never bumped.

So, why sell? It doesn't get used and I would like to take the capital and buy something I will use more often.

Terms:
  • USPS money order - ships the day I receive
  • PayPal - Ships that day
  • Personal Check - give it 10 days to clear
  • Cash - Yeah, cash spends

Here's a shot of the lens serial number and the warrenty card showing the same number.

The foot has a few minor finish rubs. The most notable is seen in the lower right corner.

The hood. I use the hood every time I use the lens. It has protected the front element quite well.

Just the lens, folks

Shot taken at 80mm

Yes, the photo is garbage, very high contrast between the RC chopper and the sky, etc but that's not the point. There are many reviews about the AF speed of this lens. This shot was taken using AI Servo on my 30D at 361mm. Hmm...

This is a 100% crop of the above shot

    For the record.....

If your on a budget this is a super nice lens!
    I use mine a lot and it's a far cry cheaper than say a Canon L 100-400mm.
(Tests I have seen...the optical quality is about 99% identical)
OS (Optical Stabilizer) you won't find any other lens at this price with it.
I have taken handheld down to 1/30-1/40 and they were clear and sharp.
Sports or Wildlife this is a excellent lens at this price.

Personally due to the OS I prefer it over the BIGMA!
I'd be hard pressed to part with mine.

Amen to all the above. I had a Sigma 80-400 OS and loved it (only sold it to grab some faster tele glass for indoor work). Sharp, good contrast -- I really couldn't tell the difference between it and Canon "L" glass. I read all the reviews about AF speed, too, and was a little hesitant to buy because of them -- but, like Scott, AF speed was never, ever a factor (although I still think Sigma should have put HSM in it). I used it a lot for soccer games and got some great action shots, not to mention some nice shots of an Alaskan glacier from a cruise ship. And the image stabilization works.

IMHO, if you need a lens in this focal length range and max aperture, don't hesitate to grab this model.
    Canon EOS 7D ........ 24-105 f/4L | 50 f/1.4 | 70-200 f/2.8L IS + 1.4x II TC ........ 580EX
Supported by: Benro C-298 Flexpod tripod, MC96 monopod, Induro PHQ1 head
Also play with: studio strobes, umbrellas, softboxes, ...and a partridge in a pear tree...

First and last bump - some information

B&H, when they have it sells this for $999
Sigma 4 Less has it in stock for $1149.95

    Toss in s/h and insurance - $15.00

My price - 20% lower than B&H, and 30% lower than Sigma 4 Less (of course their's is new and untested - mine is used and tested mwink.gif)
