Hairy Woodpecker

This male juvenile is a regular visitor to my rear deck. I can actually approach him fairly close.

1D MkIIn, 300 f/2.8L IS, ISO400, f/5.6, 1/400 Sec., - 2/3 FEC

    Very nice shots, Harv. I particularly like the pose in the second shot. Very nice lighting and composition.

    Neat bird, very nice captures harv. I like the 2nd the most.

    Sometimes you do not have to go far to get some nice shots.

    Smart of you to put out a "photographically aesthetic" perch for him.:D

    I always thought that I was doing woodpeckers wrong...because I could never get much detail. I can see by these shots that there really isn't that much to be had. I think I've seen too many over the top photoshopped versions.ne_nau.gif

    Thanks a lot, Ric. I appreciate your comments. A lot of my perches are pieces of driftwood I've picked up on walks at the lake. I have them under or beside all my feeders.
