Just got back from a week long shoot in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. There have been some wonderful postings in my absence and I will try to get in my comments when I recover. Meanwhile, this is one of my favorites from the trip, taken of a costumed guide at the Ephrata Cloister in Pennsylvania. We were inside a dark, small house with low ceilings. No flash or tripods allowed.

That was my first thought as well. Beautiful shot, Virginia.

neat pic, gina-
Indeed. It looks to me like the focus point is the hands. That 50/1.2 (I assume that is what you used for this) has such nice bokeh that it works non-the-less.
As for the softness, I think I have to thank Neat Image for some of the softness. Also, I couldn't sharpen the photo because of the noise even after applying NE. I think I need some technical assistance with this. Just to see if I can do a better job with the noise and retain a bit more detail in the face.
That said, I like the softness. For me, it goes well with the lighting and the mood. It adds to the feel of the photo as a painting.
