I have been having such a hard time deciding....but I hadn't really heard much about the Nikon
Ya, I agree with commiebiker. They are about the same price and while the Sigma has 10 more mm on the low end of the zoom the Nikon has sharper glass. I've used the Sigma 70-200 (2 different ones) at my previous job and while I enjoyed the long zoom with 2.8 throughout the zoom I just wasn't too keen on the sharpness and also the Sigma seems somewhat sluggish. I can't really speak from experience with the Nikon 80-200 but from what I have read and heard between the two it's the way to go.

I've shot with the older push/pull 80-200/2.8 AF and now have the 80-200/2.8 AFS. Mostly you can't go wrong with the Nikon. If you buy used, try to use the lens before you buy or know who you buy from. Check my response on this thread: http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=67251
