Late afternoon shots
I don't take too many people shots, but lately I've been more interested and I'm trying my hand at a few.
I ordered a Canon EF 50mm f1.4 from B&H last night to practice with...and I'll eventually have to buy a flash and diffuser. I'll be posting soon in the accesories section for advice and suggestions on equipment to buy.
These were taken with an EF 70-200mm 2.8L IS.

I think you did very well, considering those conditions, except, perhaps, on
the first picture, in which half of the lady's on the left face is completely blown
out. Having them face away from the sun and adding some fill flash would have
made for a much more pleasant image. I like the other ones very much, but I
think they, too, would have benefited from better lighting. Next time try later
or earlier in the day when the light isn't so harsh. Or even try a session on
an overcast day, instead of a sunny one.

I love #2, 3, and 4. It looks like you needed to diffuse the light in #1 a bit to keep the cheek from blowing out.
I'm going back and forth on the out-of-focus greenery in the foreground on #3; I think it's okay as is. I love the pose.
I lover the hair highlights in 4. Wow!
Beautiful shots!

I too prefer #3---except I feel it would be improved 110% if you cropped quite a bit of the branches off on the right side of photo; then your full attention would go directly to the young lady's face--and not be drawn to the very harsh-lit scrub brush..I'm just starting within Digital Grin and I hope is it #3---no book is involved if that helps.
I posted in the "Accessories" section asking for advice and purchasing suggestions. I'll start playing with my 50mm 1.4 mid next week and then I'll look into getting lighting equipment in the near future.

Hopefully I'll have interesting shots to share...I've become so used to shooting with my 70-200 that I'll have to make a few perception adjustments to get acclimated :

I really like the expressions on the faces of the women in #1 and the pose. Compelling. I find myself making up stories about these two. I agree with the others, though, that the harsh light, however, just doesn't work.
I hope you continue to photograph people and to share some of your work here.

Thanks Virginia!
Hopefully with a bit more practice, new 50mm lens and added lighting techniques, I'll have a few more to share.

These were candid shots without posing and using a little longer lens. I was shooting on the other side of the house and when I would pass by where the ladies were I'd snap a shot here and there.
