I realize the side of her face is blown out severely but I can't help but love this picture. I haven't even attempted any pp....any comments or suggestions on how to improve the shot are welcome. Thanks!

I don't really spend enough time in this arena, but this one hit me. You've captured such a nice soft expression on her face which I imagine is "her" to you. I tried to fix it on my own, but the left face is too blown out for my abilities, but no matter....

Other than this color image, you might try a B&W conversion, and I focused on filtering in Blue, but you might do otherwise to your tastes.

I think black & white would be really nice and would match her peaceful expression.

It's great, but if you have more room in the original shot, just cheat her over to the right a bit, so she's looking into the frame more. It'll be a little more comfortable. Other than that, I like the blown out look. Here's something that can enhance it too:

In Photoshop, duplicate the image so that it's in two layers.
In the top layer, run a gaussian blur. Then, set that image layer's opacity
to 50%, and it's effect to Screen. Down and dirty soft focus effect.

Here are a couple of variations on the shot, I did a b&w conversion and a blur to soften it up a little. My pp is not the greates but I'm still working on it. C&C welcome!
