After a frustrating weekend shooting a ton and throwing most of it on the cutting room floor, I decided to escape shooting for a bit and go to the farmer's market this morning. (Couldn't quite leave the camera behind, though... :wink)

I met this gentleman after I bought some of the fresh (delicious!) cheese he was selling. He was such a character and a joy to talk to.

Though this was part of my new exploration of street photography, it seemed right to include this gentleman here. Walking up to people and asking to take their pictures is extremely challenging for me, but I'm loving the results. :lust

Neat shot! I hear ya--asking strangers is hard. I haven't gathered the nerve yet.

I think that by interacting with the people and getting to know them, you're exponentially making the photographic process even better because you have a story to tell. Looking at the photo I might not have guessed what this farmer was like as a person, but I really like to hear little things like that.

I'm terrified to shoot strangers, whether or not they know I'm doing it. So kudos to you and a really nice portrait!
