Pinups in the park
Black, white and red all over. I don't often photograph people and find it quite intimidating, so I'm sharing these with the hopes that some of you who know more about skin tones, models and portraiture can gimmie some feedback.
Obviously we were going for a pinup picnic look. I have attempted to do this type of look in the past and found it really difficult: the attitude, posing the models, the whole nine yards. Constructive criticism is not only welcome, but encouraged. :rolleyes
I have a few more in a gallery over here, but it's more polka dots and red fruit!

The colors are very "juicy" , and I find the skin tone natural and pleasing amid all that dramatic red. So kudos to you for that feat.
For the other model, I prefer the first picture. I only wish her lips didn't look like they were glowing. Her expression is fantastic.
Nice job with the models and the color coordination. I especially like #2 which looks like it could have came from a 50's magazine. It is apparent to me that you put extra effort in all your posted work. Well done.

Shouldn't it be cherries with cherries, not strawberries with cherries?
Other than that, well positioned, evenly lit - perhaps a bit flat. But you are getting the feel really well.
photocamel.com has a pin up area as well that has some outstanding photogs:

Suggest you check there as well.

I have had quite a few people ask me about the lack of cherries. Funny how we've had a great cherry season so far around here but the day before the shoot when I go shopping for supplies and all I can find are strawberries and raspberries. Figures, eh?
Llewellyn thank you for pointing out her atomic lips. I didn't touch the saturation of the reds in these shots (didn't want too much to jump out) but I think in adjusting the curves that made it look quite nuclear.
Fred it's great to see you popping in! This set required a lot of effort on my part if only because I have such little experience with skin tones. I am not used to standing balanced on a razor edge between whoahyellow and whoahred. It's so easy to accidentally make a model look sickly.
And thank you for the link, Zanotti. I did do a lot of research trying to find some examples of pinup photography but I kept coming across the same sites, and I have to say that with pinup work coming back into vogue there are a lot of not-so-inspiring sites out there as well. But I see some great fashion photogs on there.
