    I couldn't imagine
that you would enter a shot of kitesurfing! LMAO I love the composition in #1 and it definitely hits the theme dead-on. I can tell that you suffered from the same thing that I ran into yesterday which is shooting an ocean scene in midday with no clouds. Not really a way around having a flat sky at capture. Maybe boost the blue in the sky? I'm not sure but I seem to be on the color advice kick and I'll provide the same disclaimer here as on other posts - my work laptop is horrible for viewing color so I may be way off base.

I like #1 the best as well, but it would be even stronger if the sky were a bit more interesting.

    Travis,
    Thank you for commenting. thumb.gif
Indeed the sky is so "light" because it was really like that. (obvious)
The Sun was at our right at 6 o'clock in the evenning.
The light was very hard and clouds ... well, there was no clouds. mwink.gif

As suggested, I will try to make the sky a little more blue.

    Oh that sky ! headscratch.gif
I can´t help it, but I will try to get some blue out of it.

i like the 3 elements that form a triangle in your second one, but the surfers are more interesting in the first. kind of a toss up for me. i've never seen this sport before - neat!
Love to dream, and dream in color.

Both nice. I love #1. If you have PS, you can select the sky and intensify the color a bit. Not too much because you want it to look real. (Or maybe you don't!!) Since my eyes are drawn directly from the parachutes to the people in the water, the gray sky doesn't really bother me. Good luck!!

These look to me like they are begging for a polarizer. Compositionally I prefer the second one because the lighthouse (?) out there fills a bit of the void that is that sky; however the reflections off the water are pretty harsh.

    Liquidair.
    Good morning.

You know what ? I used the polarizing filter all the time. :D
Without it, the shots would be MUCH worst.

I do have not shot one picture without the CPF , unfortunately, thought I had thought of it !

Indeed it is a light house and the harsh light is from the Sun which was already at a relative low position.

Thank you for your comment. thumb.gif
How about you ? Where is your picture for this contest ? I want to see it and I want to have a word before you post, if you ever do so.:D

Would like to comment, but unfortunately I cannot see your pictures...I have no idea why?

I do have not shot one picture without the CPF , unfortunately, thought I had thought of it !

I've noticed that CPFs are not as effective as the linear polarizers I used to use and I and have had a few shots with sky reflections finding their way through the filter. Thinking about it, those were sky relfections, not direct sun reflections. I have been meaning to test one of my old LPs to see what the real issues with it are on my camera. That said, your direct sun probably would have been too much for an LP too.

I do find that the shot with the lighthouse has overall more visual appeal. I'd be sorely tempted to shorten the cord on that kite a bit to bring it closer to the center of the frame. If you can, you might also try making the surfer a little larger although maybe that will be less of an issue at the regulation 800px resolution.

How about you ? Where is your picture for this contest ? I want to see it and I want to have a word before you post, if you ever do so.:D

My entry (still a work in process) is in this thread. You'll see I'd had rather different weather on the water...

    Before and after.
In fact, I am such a poor operator of the Photoshop that I do have serious difficulties in more difficult pictures.
The orange at the distance doesn't bother me because it was late afternoon. Well, just an excuse ! :D

Anyway I think it is better. Not a winner I know.eek7.gif
